This program is
designed to assist MONE members in obtaining an education
degree to advance their skills and expertise in contemporary
practice. Scholarships may be used for tuition or research
expenses.
ADMINISTRATIVE GUIDELINES:
The MONE scholarship program will be administered by the Board.
Allocation of funds will be determined during the budget process
each year.
Applications must be completed
and submitted by April 20 of each year to the address listed
below. Applications will be accepted from October of the prior year
through April 20th.
The president-elect and an ad-hoc
committee of the Board will review all applications for
compliance with
eligibility and selection requirements.
Eligible candidate applications
will be forwarded to the MONE Board in May for final selection.
Board members who have applied for a scholarship will be excused
during the selection process.
Selection will be made at the May
Board meeting.
Notification of awards and
disbursement of scholarship money will occur by June 30th.
The
scholarship applicant may apply for a one-time renewal of the
scholarship if minimum selection criteria and eligibility are
met.
Verification of the scholarship
funds being utilized for intended educational
purpose will be required
(receipts, etc., may be
forwarded to the President Elect).
AWARD:
The number of, and award amount will be determined each year in
conjunction with budget planning. These
scholarships may be used for:
- BSN completion
- MSN or related Masters
Degree Program
- Ph.D. or related doctoral
program
ELIGIBILITY:
You must be:
- A current MONE member
- Currently enrolled or have a proof of enrollment in a
nursing or related degree program
- Have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average in current
academic work
- MONE Board members are eligible to apply for a scholarship
APPLICATION
REQUIREMENTS:
A completed application consists of the following
components, typewritten and submitted together. All
applications must be complete to be considered for
selection:
Complete
Application Form. Describe your activity with MONE,
including years of membership and participation in MONE. Participation includes attendance at meetings,
committee, or task force memberships, and leadership
positions held (such as Chair of committee or task force,
District Director, secretary, etc.).
Three (3) letters of recommendation - one from each of the
following:
1. Faculty Members
2 MONE Member
3. Employer
4. Colleague (from
school or work environment)
MONE members applying for the scholarship may substitute a
letter of recommendation from a colleague (from school or work
environment) rather than a faculty member. Three letters of
recommendation are still required. Letters of support
should continue to come from a MONE member and the employer. Please have above individuals utilize the
Recommendation
Form included in your application packet.
Individuals should mail their Recommendation Form to MONE at
the address that is listed at the bottom of the page.
1. One typewritten page (double-spaced) indicating educational
and career goals upon attainment of this degree. Explain why
the attainment of this degree will facilitate your
professional leadership development.
2. Include a
financial plan indicating how the money will be
used.
3. Curriculum Vitae including the following: educational
background, professional experience, honors and awards,
activity in professional and community organizations.
4. Official transcripts of all course work completed in current
program.
If the applicant is enrolled in a program but has not yet
started course work, submit previous academic transcript
from last degree school attended.
